Biography
Roberta Onori born in Rome 10 June 1953 She is a researcher at the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety - GMOs and Mycotoxins Unit – of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (National Institute of Health), that is a governmental institute and the technical body of the Ministry of Health. She had taken degree in Biology in 1977 from the University “La Sapienza†of Rome. She is responsible of the GMO laboratory section of the GMOs and mycotoxin Unit. Her research interests include the identification of emerging risks in the food and feed production chains, standardization and validation of analytical methods and sampling approaches for the detection of GMO, and the development of strategies to prevent criminal and terrorist attack against food supply chain. She served as national delegate in numerous technical committees :OECD Task Force for the Safety of Novel Foods and Feeds, EFSA Scientific Network for Risk Assessment of GMOs, Technical Commission CEN/TC 275 “Food Analysis Horizontal Methods†WG 11 “Genetically Modified Foodstuffsâ€, European Network of GMO Laboratories (ENGL) and as expert of Italian CODEX Alimentarius working group “Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Task Force on Food Derived from Biotechnology†and of Italian Commission for evaluating GMOs applications.
