Biography
George - John E. Nychas is Professor of Food Microbiology and Director of Lab. of Microbiology and Biotechnology of Foods, Agricultural University of Athens. He has published 170 papers in SCI and more than 30 Chapters as invited author (ca. 5100 citations and h=39). He was President of National Food Authority of Greece, co-chair in the Professional Development Group (PDG) of “Microbial Modeling and Risk Analysis" of IAFP while he served EFSA as member of the BIOHAZARD group and recently he was providing external expertise to the European Parliament as expert on Food Safety.
Research Interest
In the last 20 years he has coordinated and/or participated in more than 20 EU projects, in the area of food safety, food microbial ecology, microbial physiology of pathogenic and spoilage bacteria, natural antimicrobial systems, metabolomics, mathematical modeling and risk analysis.
